Mini Transat 6.50 Departure

24 Sep 2027 All day

In 2027, the Mini Transat will leave France on September 24th, 2027. Skippers will first sail to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, and then head to Salvador de Bahia in Brazil.

The Mini Transat: a solo Atlantic challenge

The Mini Transat is a solo transatlantic sailing race held every two years. Participants sail across the Atlantic Ocean alone on 6.50-meter boats, with no contact or assistance from land.

Race Overview

Starting in 1977, the Mini Transat has been a key event for sailors, emphasizing human effort and skill over technology. The race covers about 4,050 nautical miles in two stages: from Les Sables d’Olonne, France, to Santa Cruz de La Palma in the Canary Islands, and then to Saint-François in Guadeloupe.

The Mini Transat is unique due to its strict rules: no communication with shore, the use of small boats, and controlled budgets. These aspects make it an authentic and challenging competition, often serving as a starting point for professional sailors.
