Caribbean Multihull Challenge: fast, fun, and all about catamarans and trimarans

Caribbean Multihull Challenge - Sint Maarten sailing race for catamarans and trimarans

Sint Maarten’s Caribbean Multihull Challenge (CMC) has quickly established itself as the must-sail event for performance cruising cats, racing trimarans, and everything in between.

Held each year in late January – early February, this regatta celebrates the speed, innovation, and spirit of multihull sailing in the Caribbean’s ideal conditions.

Now in its growing seasons since its launch in 2019, the CMC offers three days of exhilarating racing, featuring:

  • Point-to-point distance races around the coastlines of Sint Maarten and nearby islands
  • Windward/leeward buoy courses for competitive classes
  • A dedicated Cruising Multihull class with shorter, more relaxed courses

Each year, the fleet has grown to include a mix of high-performance trimarans, charter cats, and full-on race machines like MOD 70s and Gunboats. The event is known not just for the racing, but also for its warm, laid-back island vibe, with nightly parties, beachside dinners, and a passionate sailing community.

Why CMC stands out:

While most Caribbean regattas cater primarily to monohulls, CMC puts multihulls front and centre.

With growing industry support and a race program tailored to different performance profiles, the event is increasingly seen as the Caribbean’s premier multihull regatta.

Whether you’re racing for the podium or just for the ride, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge delivers big breeze, big fun, and big rewards.
