BVI Virgin’s Cup and Willy T Race

The Virgin’s Race is one of the longest-standing events in the Royal BVI Yacht Club calendar, with its inaugural edition held in 1975. Since 1990, with the sponsorship of William Thornton, it has been established as the Willy T Virgin’s Cup.
A distinctive feature of this race is that all participating boats must have a female skipper, and in some years, it has been required that 50% of the crew also be women.
The race culminates in a lively post-race party at the Willy T, adding to its popularity and charm.
