In the Cayman islands \, that moment comes in May\, with Cayman Carnival Batabano. \n\n\n\nLaunched in 1983 by the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman\, Batabano is the national carnival of the Cayman Islands. It takes place each year at the start of the turtle nesting season\, a meaningful time across the islands. The name itself comes from a local word describing the tracks left in the sand by sea turtles as they come ashore to nest. Spotting those tracks has long been a reason to celebrate here—and that spirit carries through the entire carnival. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArriving by sea during Batabano\, you quickly feel the shift in atmosphere. Carnival in the Caribbean is always a vibrant mix of music\, dance\, and history\, but here it reflects something unique. The Cayman Islands are home to more than 100 nationalities\, and that diversity is visible everywhere—in the rhythms\, the costumes\, and the energy in the streets. \n\n\n\nThe highlight is the parade. SUMMARY:Tour des Yoles
DESCRIPTION:The Tour de Martinique des yoles rondes\, as it is known today\, was initiated by Georges Brival\, then president of the Yole Society. In 1984\, he organised the first edition in its current format\, held from 11 to 15 August. Eight crews took part\, covering 110 nautical miles. The event was an unexpected success and has taken place every year since. \n\n\n\nSailing boat races have long existed in Martinique. In earlier times\, regattas were contested using “gommiers”\, fishing boats named after the tree from which they were made. Local patron saint festivals often provided the opportunity to organise these races\, attracting large public interest. As the gommier gradually became less common in Martinique’s forests\, yoles progressively replaced it. This transition\, first observed in fishing practices\, naturally extended to competitive racing\, although the gommier has continued to be used. \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, marking 30 years since its creation\, 18 yoles rondes started the race from the beach in Fort-de-France. \n\n\n\nIn 2016\, the event entered the digital era with the launch of the Yole365 application\, followed by a website in 2017. Since 2014\, a simulation game called Yoles Martinique has been available on iOS and Android\, with updates released each year. \n\n\n\nThe construction process of the yole ronde of Martinique has been listed in the inventory of France’s intangible cultural heritage since 2017.

DESCRIPTION:SpiceMas Grenada 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrenada Carnival\, now known as Spicemas\, has a rich history shaped by colonial rule\, African traditions\, and the island’s own cultural identity.  \n\n\n\nIt began in the 18th century during the French colonial period\, when Mardi Gras celebrations were introduced as elegant pre-Lenten events for the French elite.  \n\n\n\nOver time\, enslaved Africans added their own music\, dance\, drumming and masquerade traditions\, transforming the carnival into something far more layered and expressive. \n\n\n\nAfter emancipation in 1834\, the celebrations became increasingly influenced by African customs\, with freed people bringing their own songs\, dances and costumes into the festivities.  \n\n\n\nBy the early 20th century\, the carnival had become more organised\, with bands and calypso competitions becoming central to the event. It later moved to August\, linking it more closely with Emancipation Day and the island’s social calendar.  \n\n\n\nToday\, Spicemas is Grenada’s main cultural festival\, known for events such as J’ouvert\, Soca Monarch and Panorama\, as well as traditional masqueraders like Jab Jab and Fancy Mas. It is both a joyful celebration and a powerful expression of Grenada’s history\, resilience and national pride.
