SUMMARY:Antigua Carnival
DESCRIPTION:Antigua Carnival 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPicture this: Antigua Carnival bursts into life from late July right through to the first Tuesday in August\, a sizzling evolution from its 1957 Christmas roots. \n\n\n\nIt all explodes on Saturday with a massive parade rolling through St John’s\, where ten vibrant mas bands dazzle in costumes atop colourful floats. Kids steal the show the next day\, while Carnival City (the jazzed-up Antigua Recreation Ground) buzzes as the heart of the action. \n\n\n\nThe week ramps up with epic showdowns: crowning the Carnival Queen\, Teen Splash for the young stars\, Jaycees Queen facing off Caribbean rivals\, and Party Monarch where soca sensations battle it out. Don’t miss the steel pan showdowns and jam bands rocking the crowds! \n\n\n\nThe real fireworks hit on August’s first Monday with J’ouvert at 4am\, brass and steel bands pumping\, beer flowing\, and wild wuking up dancing lighting up the streets. Jab jabs (fiery devils) get splashed in wild colours\, oil\, and paint for anonymous mayhem\, partying non-stop through the afternoon and night. \n\n\n\nIt surges back Tuesday around 11am on a fresh route\, wrapping with the epic Last Lap\, prizes galore and hailing the Road March king.

SUMMARY:Tour des Yoles
DESCRIPTION:The Tour de Martinique des yoles rondes\, as it is known today\, was initiated by Georges Brival\, then president of the Yole Society. In 1984\, he organised the first edition in its current format\, held from 11 to 15 August. Eight crews took part\, covering 110 nautical miles. The event was an unexpected success and has taken place every year since. \n\n\n\nSailing boat races have long existed in Martinique. In earlier times\, regattas were contested using “gommiers”\, fishing boats named after the tree from which they were made. Local patron saint festivals often provided the opportunity to organise these races\, attracting large public interest. As the gommier gradually became less common in Martinique’s forests\, yoles progressively replaced it. This transition\, first observed in fishing practices\, naturally extended to competitive racing\, although the gommier has continued to be used. \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, marking 30 years since its creation\, 18 yoles rondes started the race from the beach in Fort-de-France. \n\n\n\nIn 2016\, the event entered the digital era with the launch of the Yole365 application\, followed by a website in 2017. Since 2014\, a simulation game called Yoles Martinique has been available on iOS and Android\, with updates released each year. \n\n\n\nThe construction process of the yole ronde of Martinique has been listed in the inventory of France’s intangible cultural heritage since 2017.
