SUMMARY:Mini Transat 6.50 Departure
DESCRIPTION:In 2027\, the Mini Transat will leave France on September 24th\, 2027. Skippers will first sail to Las Palmas\, Gran Canaria\, and then head to Salvador de Bahia in Brazil. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Mini Transat: a solo Atlantic challenge\n\n\n\nThe Mini Transat is a solo transatlantic sailing race held every two years. Participants sail across the Atlantic Ocean alone on 6.50-meter boats\, with no contact or assistance from land. \n\n\n\nRace Overview\n\n\n\nStarting in 1977\, the Mini Transat has been a key event for sailors\, emphasizing human effort and skill over technology. The race covers about 4\,050 nautical miles in two stages: from Les Sables d’Olonne\, France\, to Santa Cruz de La Palma in the Canary Islands\, and then to Saint-François in Guadeloupe. \n\n\n\nThe Mini Transat is unique due to its strict rules: no communication with shore\, the use of small boats\, and controlled budgets. These aspects make it an authentic and challenging competition\, often serving as a starting point for professional sailors.

SUMMARY:Guadeloupe Caribbean Rum and Food Festival (2027 dates tbc)
DESCRIPTION:a taste of Guadeloupe in Sainte-Rose\n\n\n\nFor sailors cruising Guadeloupe\, the Caribbean Rum & Food Festival is a good opportunity to step ashore and discover some of the flavours\, people and creative energy that shape the French Caribbean. \n\n\n\n\nHeld in Sainte-Rose\, the festival brings together rum producers from across the region\, Guadeloupe-based chefs\, local artisans and music. Visitors can explore Caribbean rums\, attend culinary demonstrations and workshops\, browse the artisan market\, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere as the day moves into an evening of live music. \n\n\n\nMore than a tasting event\, it is a chance to approach Caribbean food and rum culture with curiosity: to meet the people behind local products\, learn about their craft\, and experience the diversity of traditions found from one island to another. \n\n\n\nIf you are sailing nearby\, consider adding a stop in Sainte-Rose to your itinerary — and remember to enjoy responsibly before returning to the water. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlanning your visit: practical information for visitors\n\n\n\nIf you are thinking of attending the festival during your stay in Guadeloupe\, here is a practical overview to help you organise your visit. \n\n\n\nTickets and admission \n\n\n\n\nTickets can be purchased on site at the entrance\, provided the event is not already sold out. \n\n\n\nYour admission includes access to regional rum tastings and local products until 19:00\, stage activities\, masterclasses\, and access to the pool area. \n\n\n\nChildren under 18 enter free of charge when accompanied by a responsible adult\, though please note that there are no dedicated activities or entertainment tailored specifically for young children. \n\n\n\n\nFood and extra workshopsWhile general tastings and masterclasses are included with your ticket\, on-site food is not. Six distinct food stands run by local chefs offer a variety of choices\, from traditional Guadeloupean dishes to comforting staples like grilled meats and bokits (outside food and drinks are not permitted on the premises). Speciality workshops\, such as cigar masterclasses and blind rum tastings\, are accessible for an additional modest fee with registration at the entrance. For stage-side culinary workshops with tastings\, seating operates on a first-come\, first-served basis\, so arriving early is recommended. \n\n\n\nGetting there and on-site practicalitiesThe festival venue is accessible by car. Parking spaces are limited\, making carpooling or taxis the preferred option if you are coming ashore from your boat or charter base. Credit card payment terminals are available throughout the site\, though keeping some cash on hand is wise in case of mobile network interruptions. The event is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility\, but do keep in mind that the entire venue is outdoors on grass. Non-alcoholic drinks\, coffee masterclasses\, craft stalls\, and sunset DJ sets ensure a welcoming experience for both rum connoisseurs and non-drinkers alike. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore information on the festival

SUMMARY:Caribbean Multihull Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Caribbean Multihull Challenge: fast\, fun\, and all about catamarans and trimarans\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSint Maarten’s Caribbean Multihull Challenge (CMC) has quickly established itself as the must-sail event for performance cruising cats\, racing trimarans\, and everything in between. \n\n\n\nHeld each year in late January – early February\, this regatta celebrates the speed\, innovation\, and spirit of multihull sailing in the Caribbean’s ideal conditions. \n\n\n\nNow in its growing seasons since its launch in 2019\, the CMC offers three days of exhilarating racing\, featuring: \n\n\n\n\nPoint-to-point distance races around the coastlines of Sint Maarten and nearby islands\n\n\n\nWindward/leeward buoy courses for competitive classes\n\n\n\nA dedicated Cruising Multihull class with shorter\, more relaxed courses\n\n\n\n\nEach year\, the fleet has grown to include a mix of high-performance trimarans\, charter cats\, and full-on race machines like MOD 70s and Gunboats. The event is known not just for the racing\, but also for its warm\, laid-back island vibe\, with nightly parties\, beachside dinners\, and a passionate sailing community. \n\n\n\nWhy CMC stands out:\n\n\n\nWhile most Caribbean regattas cater primarily to monohulls\, CMC puts multihulls front and centre. \n\n\n\nWith growing industry support and a race program tailored to different performance profiles\, the event is increasingly seen as the Caribbean’s premier multihull regatta. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re racing for the podium or just for the ride\, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge delivers big breeze\, big fun\, and big rewards.

SUMMARY:Saint Lucia National Day — festival of Lights and Renewal
DESCRIPTION:The Festival of Light in Saint Lucia is an event that traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas season on December 13th\, honouring Saint Lucy\, the patron saint of light. This festival symbolises the victory of light over darkness and the renewal of life. \n\n\n\nA key tradition of the festival is the creation of lanterns\, originally hung in doorways to “light the way\,” which has evolved into a creative competition held in the first week of December. Participants\, both youth and adults\, craft lanterns from natural and recycled materials\, as well as colorful papers\, depicting various themes such as local culture\, historical buildings\, and imaginative designs. \n\n\n\nThe celebration culminates on the eve of Saint Lucia Day with the Festival of Light. The festivities include a Parade of Lanterns through Castries\, accompanied by Christmas songs and dances\, followed by the illumination of Derek Walcott Square and a fireworks display. Many businesses also continue the tradition of lighting up on December 13th. \n\n\n\nIn 2013\, the festival introduced the Lantern Ritual\, where a musical procession to the harbour\, led by traditional masqueraders\, sets paper lanterns afloat on the water\, carrying the wishes and prayers of the patrons for the season and beyond. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore information on Saint Lucia National Day — festival of Lights and Renewal

SUMMARY:St Kitts Nevis islands Carnival — Sugar Mass
DESCRIPTION:Are you sailing the Caribbean during the winter season? If your journey takes you near Saint Kitts & Nevis between late November and early January\, don’t miss Sugar Mas\, one of the most exciting and friendly carnivals in the region. \n\n\n\nSugar Mas is the national carnival of Saint Kitts & Nevis. The name comes from “sugar” (because sugar cane was essential in the island’s history) and “mas”\, short for “masquerade”. This event mixes music\, dance\, costumes\, and local traditions. It is a unique celebration of Caribbean culture that brings people together—locals and visitors alike. \n\n\n\nAs a sailor\, Sugar Mas is a perfect opportunity to experience real island life beyond the beach. The festivities take place mostly in Basseterre\, the capital of Saint Kitts\, where you will find a safe and welcoming marina nearby. You can anchor your boat\, walk into town\, and enjoy live music\, street food\, parades\, and traditional shows. \n\n\n\nIt’s a smaller\, safer carnival than in bigger islands like Trinidad\, and it’s easy to enjoy at your own pace. \n\n\n\nSome highlights include: \n\n\nJ’ouvert Morning: A sunrise street party with music\, dancing\, and happy crowds. \n\n\nGrand Parade Day: Colourful costumes\, dancing groups\, and amazing energy in the streets. \n\n\nCalypso and Soca competitions: Discover local music styles that are full of rhythm and meaning. \n\n\nSaint Kitts & Nevis is also a great stop for sailors. The waters are calm\, the anchorages are beautiful\, and the people are warm and helpful. You can explore both islands\, taste local food\, hike in nature\, or just relax. If you need supplies\, repairs\, or fuel\, you will find basic services in the main harbor. \nSo\, if you are sailing around the Caribbean during the holiday season\, think about stopping at Saint Kitts & Nevis for Sugar Mas. It’s more than a party—it’s an experience full of joy\, culture\, and connection. \nCome for the carnival. Stay for the spirit. \n \n\n\nMore information about St Kitts & Nevis Carnival Sugar Mass

SUMMARY:Viking Explorers Rally
DESCRIPTION:Sail the Atlantic with confidence with the Viking Explorers Rally\nFor many sailors\, crossing the Atlantic is a lifelong dream\, but planning the passage can be daunting. That’s where the Viking Explorers Rally comes in. This transatlantic rally offers a supportive and friendly way to sail from Europe to the Caribbean\, perfect for cruisers who want adventure without going it alone. \nThe rally departs each January from Las Palmas\, Gran Canaria\, and typically arrives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It makes it an ideal choice for those dreaming of tropical anchorages and blue water sailing. \nThe Viking Explorers Rally is unique in its small-group\, non-commercial approach. Unlike some larger rallies\, this one focuses on creating a real community among participants. \nThe fleet is limited to around 20 to 25 boats\, allowing sailors to get to know each other before\, during\, and after the crossing. \nOrganisers provide weather routing\, technical support\, safety checks\, and social events\, all designed to make the experience safer and more enjoyable. It’s perfect for families\, couples\, friends\, and solo sailors who want to share the crossing with like-minded adventurers\, but without the pressure of racing. \nThe perfect gateway to Caribbean cruising\nThe rally ends in the Caribbean\, but the journey doesn’t stop there. Arriving in Saint Vincent\, participants are already well-positioned to explore the Grenadines\, Saint Lucia\, Martinique\, and beyond. \nFor many sailors\, this is just the beginning of their Caribbean season. From here\, you can follow the trade winds north or south\, island-hop\, and discover local cultures. \nThe rally also helps boats clear into customs and offers arrival support\, making that first Caribbean landfall smooth and stress-free. \n \n\n\nMore information about the Viking Explorers Rally

SUMMARY:SpiceMas Grenada
DESCRIPTION:SpiceMas Grenada 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrenada Carnival\, now known as Spicemas\, has a rich history shaped by colonial rule\, African traditions\, and the island’s own cultural identity. \n\n\n\nIt began in the 18th century during the French colonial period\, when Mardi Gras celebrations were introduced as elegant pre-Lenten events for the French elite. \n\n\n\nOver time\, enslaved Africans added their own music\, dance\, drumming and masquerade traditions\, transforming the carnival into something far more layered and expressive. \n\n\n\nAfter emancipation in 1834\, the celebrations became increasingly influenced by African customs\, with freed people bringing their own songs\, dances and costumes into the festivities. \n\n\n\nBy the early 20th century\, the carnival had become more organised\, with bands and calypso competitions becoming central to the event. It later moved to August\, linking it more closely with Emancipation Day and the island’s social calendar. \n\n\n\nToday\, Spicemas is Grenada’s main cultural festival\, known for events such as J’ouvert\, Soca Monarch and Panorama\, as well as traditional masqueraders like Jab Jab and Fancy Mas. It is both a joyful celebration and a powerful expression of Grenada’s history\, resilience and national pride.

SUMMARY:Tour des Yoles
DESCRIPTION:The Tour de Martinique des yoles rondes\, as it is known today\, was initiated by Georges Brival\, then president of the Yole Society. In 1984\, he organised the first edition in its current format\, held from 11 to 15 August. Eight crews took part\, covering 110 nautical miles. The event was an unexpected success and has taken place every year since. \n\n\n\nSailing boat races have long existed in Martinique. In earlier times\, regattas were contested using “gommiers”\, fishing boats named after the tree from which they were made. Local patron saint festivals often provided the opportunity to organise these races\, attracting large public interest. As the gommier gradually became less common in Martinique’s forests\, yoles progressively replaced it. This transition\, first observed in fishing practices\, naturally extended to competitive racing\, although the gommier has continued to be used. \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, marking 30 years since its creation\, 18 yoles rondes started the race from the beach in Fort-de-France. \n\n\n\nIn 2016\, the event entered the digital era with the launch of the Yole365 application\, followed by a website in 2017. Since 2014\, a simulation game called Yoles Martinique has been available on iOS and Android\, with updates released each year. \n\n\n\nThe construction process of the yole ronde of Martinique has been listed in the inventory of France’s intangible cultural heritage since 2017.

SUMMARY:Antigua Carnival
DESCRIPTION:Antigua Carnival 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPicture this: Antigua Carnival bursts into life from late July right through to the first Tuesday in August\, a sizzling evolution from its 1957 Christmas roots. \n\n\n\nIt all explodes on Saturday with a massive parade rolling through St John’s\, where ten vibrant mas bands dazzle in costumes atop colourful floats. Kids steal the show the next day\, while Carnival City (the jazzed-up Antigua Recreation Ground) buzzes as the heart of the action. \n\n\n\nThe week ramps up with epic showdowns: crowning the Carnival Queen\, Teen Splash for the young stars\, Jaycees Queen facing off Caribbean rivals\, and Party Monarch where soca sensations battle it out. Don’t miss the steel pan showdowns and jam bands rocking the crowds! \n\n\n\nThe real fireworks hit on August’s first Monday with J’ouvert at 4am\, brass and steel bands pumping\, beer flowing\, and wild wuking up dancing lighting up the streets. Jab jabs (fiery devils) get splashed in wild colours\, oil\, and paint for anonymous mayhem\, partying non-stop through the afternoon and night. \n\n\n\nIt surges back Tuesday around 11am on a fresh route\, wrapping with the epic Last Lap\, prizes galore and hailing the Road March king.

SUMMARY:USVI International Optimist Regatta

Over the course of a full week\, young sailors aged 8 to 15 from around the world take part in an energetic mix of training and competition. \n\n\n\nThe action begins just offshore\, where steady trade winds set the stage for three days of thrilling races. Before that\, participants sharpen their skills in a three-day clinic and test their teamwork in a dedicated day of team racing. \n\n\n\nMore than just a regatta\, it’s a celebration of youth\, talent\, and the spirit of sailing\, a tradition that continues to grow stronger and more impressive every year. \n\n\n\nMore information
