SUMMARY:Manhattan Yacht Club Trophy
DESCRIPTION:If you’re sailing around the BVIs in winter\, there’s one event that always brings a smile to the local fleet: the Manhattan Yacht Club Trophy. \n\n\n\nBorn in 2002 as a gift from the Manhattan Yacht Club\, this little regatta has grown into a tradition. The trophy itself is a miniature Statue of Liberty\, for the friendship between New York sailors and the BVI. \n\n\n\nEvery year\, the Royal BVI Yacht Club\, the West End Yacht Club\, and—since 2016—the MYC jump in for a friendly showdown on the water. \n\n\n\nThis isn’t the sort of race where elbows are out and tempers flare. It’s all about good vibes\, camaraderie\, and enjoying a day on the water with sailors who love the sport as much as you do.

SUMMARY:Saint Lucia National Day — festival of Lights and Renewal
DESCRIPTION:The Festival of Light in Saint Lucia is an event that traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas season on December 13th\, honouring Saint Lucy\, the patron saint of light. This festival symbolises the victory of light over darkness and the renewal of life. \n\n\n\nA key tradition of the festival is the creation of lanterns\, originally hung in doorways to “light the way\,” which has evolved into a creative competition held in the first week of December. Participants\, both youth and adults\, craft lanterns from natural and recycled materials\, as well as colorful papers\, depicting various themes such as local culture\, historical buildings\, and imaginative designs. \n\n\n\nThe celebration culminates on the eve of Saint Lucia Day with the Festival of Light. The festivities include a Parade of Lanterns through Castries\, accompanied by Christmas songs and dances\, followed by the illumination of Derek Walcott Square and a fireworks display. Many businesses also continue the tradition of lighting up on December 13th. \n\n\n\nIn 2013\, the festival introduced the Lantern Ritual\, where a musical procession to the harbour\, led by traditional masqueraders\, sets paper lanterns afloat on the water\, carrying the wishes and prayers of the patrons for the season and beyond.

SUMMARY:St Kitts Nevis islands Carnival — Sugar Mass
DESCRIPTION:Are you sailing the Caribbean during the winter season? If your journey takes you near Saint Kitts & Nevis between late November and early January\, don’t miss Sugar Mas\, one of the most exciting and friendly carnivals in the region. \nSugar Mas is the national carnival of Saint Kitts & Nevis. The name comes from “sugar” (because sugar cane was essential in the island’s history) and “mas”\, short for “masquerade”. This event mixes music\, dance\, costumes\, and local traditions. It is a unique celebration of Caribbean culture that brings people together—locals and visitors alike. \nAs a sailor\, Sugar Mas is a perfect opportunity to experience real island life beyond the beach. The festivities take place mostly in Basseterre\, the capital of Saint Kitts\, where you will find a safe and welcoming marina nearby. You can anchor your boat\, walk into town\, and enjoy live music\, street food\, parades\, and traditional shows. \nIt’s a smaller\, safer carnival than in bigger islands like Trinidad\, and it’s easy to enjoy at your own pace. \nSome highlights include: \n\n\n \nJ’ouvert Morning: A sunrise street party with music\, dancing\, and happy crowds. \n\n \nGrand Parade Day: Colourful costumes\, dancing groups\, and amazing energy in the streets. \n\n \nCalypso and Soca competitions: Discover local music styles that are full of rhythm and meaning. \n\n\nSaint Kitts & Nevis is also a great stop for sailors. The waters are calm\, the anchorages are beautiful\, and the people are warm and helpful. You can explore both islands\, taste local food\, hike in nature\, or just relax. If you need supplies\, repairs\, or fuel\, you will find basic services in the main harbor. \nSo\, if you are sailing around the Caribbean during the holiday season\, think about stopping at Saint Kitts & Nevis for Sugar Mas. It’s more than a party—it’s an experience full of joy\, culture\, and connection. \nCome for the carnival. Stay for the spirit.

SUMMARY:St Croix International Regatta
DESCRIPTION:St Croix International Regatta\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere’s nothing quite like the St. Croix International Regatta at the St. Croix Yacht Club. For three days\, the turquoise waters of Teague Bay come alive with sharp manoeuvres\, tight competition\, and crews pushing their boats through the chop with real skill. It’s the kind of racing that keeps you on edge\, watching every tack and every gain as teams fight for top honours. And yes\, even prizes like their skipper’s weight in rum. \n\n\n\nBut out here\, it’s never just about the racing. Once the sails are down\, the island spirit takes over. Evenings roll straight into celebration with live Cruzan music\, fire dancers lighting up the night\, and a proper Caribbean pig roast to bring everyone together. It’s that perfect blend of serious sailing and laid-back island energy that makes this regatta something special.
