DESCRIPTION:Master of the Ocean – annual watersports championship in the Dominican Republic\n\n\n\nThe Master of the Ocean is a multi-discipline watersports competition held each year in Cabarete\, Dominican Republic\, typically on Playa Encuentro.  \n\n\n\nFounded in 2003 by waterman Marcus Böhm\, the event was conceived as a Caribbean “Ironman” for wind- and wave-based sports\, bringing together local and international athletes to compete side by side. It is organised with the support of the Happy Dolphins non-profit and has grown into a flagship regional event that combines high-level competition with cultural and community engagement. \n\n\n\nThe format centers on five disciplines:  \n\n\n\n\nsurfing\n\n\n\nwindsurfing\n\n\n\nkitesurfing\n\n\n\nstand-up paddle (SUP) surfing\n\n\n\nwingfoil\n\n\n\n\nCompetitors battle for individual and team honours\, with the overall title of “Master of the Ocean” awarded to the most versatile water athlete.  \n\n\n\nTeams are often composed to include gender diversity\, and the event showcases both elite professionals and emerging regional talent. \n\n\n\nBeyond racing\, the regatta incorporates local cultural elements: tastings\, music\, and community festivities.
